What is a Dermatologist?Dermatologists are specialists in all aspects of Skin, Hair and Nails. Their extensive education involves initial medical training followed by specialised training that is accredited by the only professional skin specialist college, The Australasian College of Dermatologists.

Do I need a Referral to see a Dermatologist?A valid referral is required to obtain a Medicare rebate for your consultation or any procedures. Additionally it facilitates effective communication between your primary healthcare provider and the specialist. You can make an appointment to see your specialist without a referral, however you will not be eligible for a Medicare rebate.

How long will my referral last?A referral from a General Practitioner is valid for a duration of 12 months, while a referral from a specialist is valid for 3 months. This practice does not accept indefinite referrals.

What is your cancellation policy?We understand that from time to time it is necessary to cancel an appointment. SMS reminders are sent prior to your appointment. Kindly reply “Y” or “N” in response to the reminder. Please be aware that late cancellations or failing to attend your appointment will result in a fee. We appreciate your cooperation and ask that if you can no longer attend your appointment, you provide at least 24 hours notice. This allows us to offer your appointment to another patient from our waitlist. Thank you for your understanding.

For ReferrersWe provide a comprehensive range of services covering medical, surgical, laser and aesthetic dermatology. Please ensure your patients call Dermatology Junction for an appointment. Referrals can be sent via HealthLink EDI: philtong, Faxed 02 9182 5900 or emailed For urgent referrals please include the word “Urgent” in the correspondence or call 02 8540 9130. Urgent referrals will be triaged by the Dermatologists and your patient will be contacted regarding an appointment time. While patients can access a Digital Skin Check without a formal request, if preferred, practitioners can work with their patients to identify areas of concern prior to their appointment by downloading and completing this request form on behalf of their patients.
